Antony’s price revealed as Tottenham have secret transfer weapon over Man Utd in Ajax talks

Ajax are set to demand a huge fee for Brazilian winger Antony as key sales this summer are just bad news for Tottenham and Manchester United amid all this transfer speculation.

Man United’s obsession with trying to sign Frenkie De Jong means their progress in other deals has been thwarted. It was understood that the love Jurrien Timber and Lisandro Martinez were two defenders alongside the aforementioned winger that Erik ten Hag wanted, but Eredivisie champions business elsewhere means other exits could be hard to come by. So far their sales have included the likes of David Neres, Lassina Traore, Noa Lang and others looking for challenges elsewhere and now you can add old West Ham striker Sebastian Haller makes this list as Borussia Dortmund close in on £30m for a striker who set the Champions League on fire in 2021/22.

Therefore, many of the title-winning Dutch team have already been disintegrated and Edwin van der Sar, among others, on the board. are ready to close up shop this early summer as their quest to replace some of the big name losses begins. The only way Ajax will now sell their remaining big stars is if irresistible offers arrive. How does this affect Antony now?

Well, despite his Man United preference which he delivered when sending his exit message to his good friend Ten Hag, he will now have to hope that one of Tottenham or United accumulate the money needed to reopen the doors of the store in this situation. The listed fee, however, could cause some problems for both Premier League clubs. According to Dutch journalist Mike Verweij, who has good connections with Ajax, the board are now seeking up to £68million if they were to sanction the 22-year-old’s exit in the weeks and months coming.

This update comes hours after it was reported by various outlets that the Red Devils have started informal talks with the player in question. But now, with United and Spurs on transfer budgets, how can both afford the new price tag attached to the left-footed inverted winger?

Ajax are interested in Steven Bergwijn which means a swap deal could be possible, especially if Antonio Conte were to lose to other targets Raphinha and Richarlison at Arsenal and Chelsea respectively. United, who are set to see their owners withdraw an £11m dividend from the club by the end of this week, may have to pay straight cash meaning Tottenham could have the advantage if they act on their original interest.

Tottenham fans – would you be willing to see Steven Bergwijn sacrificed if it meant the club could bring in Antony this summer or would you rather the focus be elsewhere? Leave your thoughts below in the comments section!
